[opensuse-packaging] PAM_SCRIPT
Hey guys, I was wondering about getting pam_script into the default pam_modules RPM what is the reason it isn't already there? Can we include it in openSUSE version? It would certainly help make this solution easier to configure and possibly help write an automated solution around it. http://www.novell.com/support/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=tip-18858html&sliceId=&dialogID=36750&stateId=1%200%2038645v If someone could write an installer for the above solution it would be a huge thing. -- James Tremblay Director of Technology Newmarket School District Newmarket NH 03857 "let's make a difference" http://en.opensuse.org/education --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+help@opensuse.org

Because it's not necessary, we have pam_exec in the PAM package. That's much more flexible.

I see no need for it.

Sorry, but I fail to see how pam_script should install and configure LUM and Novell Client Single Sign-On. This is a step you are doing once as system administrator, not every time a user login. If pam_script is not a good idea than please convert this solution to use pam_exec. http://www.novell.com/coolsolutions/tip/18858.html in an environment with 5-6-7 year old students it isn't an acceptable use of the classroom time to use the current process of saving a profile at login because they use computers in up to 5 differnet classrooms. Teachers are killing me complaining about this and demanding "their" Windows back! We need a dynamic local user type login and this provides it. Sorry, but I can only repeat what I wrote already about this: "Sorry, but I fail to see how pam_script should install and configure LUM and Novell Client Single Sign-On. This is a step you are doing once as system administrator, not every time a user login."

The arcticles you mention don't have modify account local files, they even don't mention them. And I fail to see, why this config files needs to be modified every time. The arcticles only mention system global files. You cannot modify such files with PAM, neither pam_script nor pam_exec. It seems at first you should clearly state and describe, what your problem is. Your "solutions" at least have nothing to do with the articles you mention. And this has nothing to do with pam_script or pam_exec. Thorsten
