Before anyone jumps in to "improve security": not using .xz wastes alot of (local) diskspace and download bandwidth.
Not using brotli wastes diskspace (and time). It's kind of new, but compressed as well as xz, but in the time that it would take gzip. Try it with linux-4*.tar. And anyone who wants speed should be on LZO rather than gzip. Anyhow, you need to tell upstream those things. THEY are the ones who should be using efficient compression. THEY are the ones who should be creating .sig/.asc files for the uncompressed archive (like kernel.org). But upstream is a denomination of people which often tend to ignore all these matters, just like the symbol versioning thing. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-packaging+owner@opensuse.org
