Michael, while I have some compassion for your anger, you missed to point out, in which way this naming scheme results in a SNAFU for you. I've given the example of python-python-daemon in another thread. Sure, not a beauty, but how would you reference the PyPI package "python-daemon", given that many other variants including "daemon" are different packages. The import name isn't unique and hence, you cannot reference specific packages based on it. Even searching would be a problem.
