Well, I'm mostly happy with current Yast-Network module, but if we
update, then I really wish to push few new features as well:
-Network Bridging (feature-request:)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=262960
-TAP Interface creation/management (feature-request:)
https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=262970
What do you think of it?

As mvidner described, we suggest to have only DHCP option and AUTOIP will be
default backup method if dhcp failed (exactly same as dhcp+autoip but less
confused for users).

I'm not very experienced with this but it's another topic.

Hello,
in current version (openSUSE 10.2) of sysconfig we have following options for
ifcfg:
## Type: list(static,dhcp,autoip,dhcp+autoip,6to4)
## Default: static
#
# With BOOTPROTO you can choose in which mode the interface will be set up:
# - static: Set up static address(es)
# - dhcp: Start a dhcp client on that interface.
# - autoip: Automatic search for a free address and assign it statically.
# - dhcp+autoip: Try dhcp and use autoip if dhcp fails.
# - 6to4: Set up ipv6 over ipv4 tunnel (see man ifcfg-tunnel)
# If you use dhcp or autoip you may additionally specify static address(es).
My suggestion is to drop autoip and dhcp+autoip options and instead of it
create AUTOIP option for /etc/sysconfig/network/dhcp
Because I think that no one uses only autoip option and dhcp+autoip is autoip
action when dhcp-client after time out doesn't obtain an IP address.
Does it make sense? Any comments?
Michal
