Re: [suse-multimedia-e] DVD Player
I have had good success with both "xmovie" and "xine" running SuSE linux 7.3. By the way, I do not have a DVD on the linux box I am playing these movies from, what I have been using is files that I ripped from my original DVD disk, (which of course are decoded), and reside on my SuSE 7.3 server, nfs mounted, which then play fine. Lately I have spent a great deal of time trying to get DVD playing, etc within Linux. Check out www.divx.com to get divx players and other great utilities for Linux, plus under the tutorials there is a great article about Linux DVD. Additionally look at: www.opendvd.org I still have not been able to rip within Linux, and have resorted to Windows ME using: "DVD Decoder" (Best so far) "Smartripper" (Decent but slow) Then converted it to divx (compressed) format with "FlashMpeg" Good luck, and let me know if you hear of others. scot -----Original Message----- From: " Ricardo Wagemaker" <ricardo@holambra.freeserve.co.uk> Date: Mon, 26 Nov 2001 23:52:34 +0800 To: suse-multimedia-e@suse.de Subject: [suse-multimedia-e] DVD Player Re: Hi Re: Re: I am looking for a good DVD player software.
