Hello,
I have a laptop with SUSE 9.0 installed (ALSA 0.9.6). I am happy with the 9.0 distro so I'm not looking to upgrade this laptop to SUSE 9.1. However I would really like to update ALSA to 1.0.6 (or later), does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this?
Thanks, Paul
The easiest way is if you search for the alsa rpm for suse 9.0. Have a look at the following link: http://rpmseek.com/rpm-pl/alsa.html?hl=de&cbd=0:A:0::44 Ups, just recognized that you wrote 1.0.6. On the given link I only found them up to 1.0.3. Maybe on the alsa page they have some more links. Anyway, there are usually individuals who are interested in getting some software up to date on their system and post it on a web site. Searching for the key words 'alsa', 'rpm', 'suse', and '9.0' usually brings you some results. You can even install it from right where you found the rpm, by clicking on the link, Yast should come up with the software installation window. BTW, are there some known problems with alsa? I have some problems with my sound system on 9.0 and never really figured out what is wrong. Guenter
