Suspend to RAM hat auch ohne ACPI nicht funktioniert :-(
I don't know if T22 is much different from my T21, but for me suspend to RAM works fine with both APM and ACPI. I have the ThinkPad related software packages installed, but I guess they are not really needed for this, or are they?
I have also installed this package ...
The difference is that when running with APM, it will not suspend when on AC.
After running my laptop without AC, suspend to RAM works fine with APM. But the sound module is disabled when resuming. So I started searching for the APM config file. I guess the way to unload the sound module has changed since SuSE 8.2 because I have no idea what I have to add to the /usr/sbin/apmd_proxy file or wherever.
This is now all in /etc/sysconfig/powersave/* since the powermanagement is no longer handled by apmd but by powersaved since 9.1. If you did an update from 8.2, apmd will still be running, but you can change this with the YaST runlevel editor.
With ACPI on the other hand the only way to make it suspend is to echo 4 > /proc/acpi/sleep.
I don't understand this - I'm not such a linux expert ... what means echo?
don't bother - powersaved will handle this for you.
And you have to unload the sound module before suspending.
how can I do it for ACPI?
Powersaved works for both APM and ACPI, so you should only have to configure it once.
I also eject PC Cards before going to sleep. A simple script can handle the process nicely and also load modules and insert cards on resume.
Maybe you can post the script...?
I'd suggest you use powersaved, we can support you much better if you do ;-) -- Stefan Seyfried
