[opensuse-marketing] [Off Topic] Report from Japan
Hello mates, sorry for my off topic post. As all of you may know, Japan was struck by a strong earthquake and tsunami last week. Fortunately, I myself and my family live in Tokyo and escaped serious damage. I want to take this opportunity to thank community people who have been worried about my safety. However, the earthquake and tsunami did tremendous damage to eastern part of Japan. As far as we can count so far, the number of dead stands at more than 7,000, the number of missing stands at more than 10,000 and more than 450,000 people are still taking shelter in uncomfortable surroundings. A serious nuclear power plant disaster is now going on and due to the shutdown of some power plants which were damaged by the quake/tsunami, rolling blackouts are now implemented in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Although the quake/tsumani did little damage to Tokyo directly, we are still in messy situation. Supermarkets in the Tokyo region have been stripped bare of food and other daily necessities and many people are facing gasoline shortages (well, please do not too much worry about me because I myself have stockpiled enough foods and will be all right for the meantime ;-)). http://fooyoh.com/news/5919548 It is gratifying that you all are haveing fun with tweaking brand-new openSUSE 11.4, but I myself am not able to attend *the party* and really enjoy ATM. I'm now trying to save on electricity so that I can't contribute as much as usual. I hope you can understand my situation, and I would appreciate it if you pray for Japan. Hello, I don't know the financial of openSUSE and don't know if we already did. Why don't we donate an amount for the Japan disaster? As we say, openSUSE is more than an IT product. It's the people of openSUSE. Take care Stathis -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org

right now, I know of no official donation system. Japan seems not to ask for help now. Time will certainly come when it will be necessary. Japan needs now to recover from collapsing. Of course, if there is a way we can help, this should be good!! jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xgxog7_clip-l-ombre-et-la-lumiere-3-bad-pig... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGgv_ZFtV14 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org
