Hi Cabelo, We already have 1000 DVD's to distribute for FISL - some stickers as well ;-). I had commented on pt list I believe you read something... We'll have our openSUSE Community Meeting (or in portuguese - Evento Comunitário) and Domingos, Esteban, Luis and many others will be presented. Just to remember... be careful with the amount you asked cause our Federal Police might hold the shipment and then destroy if not approved. Happened to Carlos last year and in my case I had to fill lot of reports. Izabel 2011/6/1 CABELO - openSUSE member <cabelo@opensuse.org>:

If needed, we could create DVD's in Brazil... I mean, asking for 5000 or more - that's just crazy to send over. If you really need that much, let's talk about pressing it locally!

On that thought won't it be cheaper to create them in key countries, to save on postage and shipping problems? Pup -- (678) 636-9678 ----------------------------------------- Discover it! Enjoy it! sure, and localized! cost here in France 2000 euros approx for 5000 ex (raw 0.5€ each) after that the scale economy is smalll - at that price one should have nearly identical design than the present one. (this is tax excluded, count 0.1€ of taxes) this is a price, but not that big. do somebody have experience of negociating a dvd included in a paper revue? jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://www.youtube.com/user/jdddodinorg http://jdd.blip.tv/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org

We can do it cheaper. But yes, making some locally is on my agenda - I just need the money to do that and right now, I don't have it.

I presume :-)

I imagine that. It will be difficult to manage so many countries. I really wonder if we couldn't make an inernational (localized) dvd, at least for the 10 most common countries (or the 10 most targetted ones). this would cut down the price

but this should be a priority. It have some drawbacks (such dvd are not always optimal), but for example if 12.1 continue being as stable as it's already, any revue going out in october could be glad to have the openSUSE dvd. Is there a policy for this kind of thing? thanks jdd -- http://www.dodin.net http://www.youtube.com/user/jdddodinorg http://jdd.blip.tv/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org

This is really a subject matter that should be discussed on the ambassador list with the ambassador team. Neither Jos, nor AJ, nor any of the budget deciders have a crystal ball to magically determine what is needed and where. We try to come up with a safe number but it is always a rough guesstimate at best. What ambassador team and its regional leaders need to do is start assessing a year in advance what are safe numbers and plans for distributing the media. What are realistic numbers? Who holds and distributes them? Who will help to translate localized translation of DVD cover artwork? etc. This can all be done, IF we get that organized better than we do now. I'm all for it and Manu and I talked a little bit about it the other day. And yes, with a well-organized planning of DVD needs that can be created locally and localized locally, we can actually increase the number of DVDs distributed globally. The increase in global presence that we are showing lately indicates we are definitely ready to make a more organized push for DVD distribution. seems fairly simple. You should push this to ambassador list and I can puch it to fr list if you feel it good thanks jdd (but is not the newpaper option cheaper?) -- http://www.dodin.net http://www.youtube.com/user/jdddodinorg http://jdd.blip.tv/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-marketing+help@opensuse.org
