[opensuse-marketing] New Ambassador self introduction
Hi all. There are very few people in this ML that knows me, so I introduce myself: I'm 35 and live in Rome (Italy). I'm a Geek enthusiast and one of the items I like more is Open Source and GNU/Linux world. I'm a GNU/Linux user since Slackware 3.0 (1995 or 1996 I believe), I have studied and always worked in IT market (primarly on Unix and GNU/Linux stuff). I continuously switch between openSUSE, SLED, Ubuntu, Fedora and Sabayon distros for my work desktop, while I use even more distros for my 'home-lab'. I like to act as a 'promoter' of innovation, and I daily do my best to contribute to spread the word about everything that keeps my attention from this world. I've been one of those contributors acting 'behind the scenes'. I would like to contribute to the marketing activities of openSUSE community, and to apply to the Ambassador program. I often attend events about technology subjects, and in a few cases I've been holding talks about things that I liked to share the vision for. I would like to contribute in the openSUSE marketing activities by - Participating to LUGs and Universities activities to promote openSUSE. - Attending to events as an openSUSE Ambassador to make promotion. - Holding classes about openSUSE to teach openSUSE-GNU/Linux to new users (it happens that local social/cultural associations promote [almost]-free classes about GNU/Linux). - Organize events with the support of companies/LUGs/universities where it'd be possible to promote openSUSE. ...there are other ideas I have in mind.... but I need to focus on the available time that I'd need to do all this stuff. I'm excited to start organizing my 'Ambassador' activities in the next few days and will therefore ask for the required support to do my best as a new 'formal' contributor; so, expect some 'spamming' from me! I'll also try to join as frequently as I can the IRC on #opensuse-marketing since I understand it's the 'place' where more items can be discussed. I've updated my user page on http://www.opensuse.org/User:Miumiento (hope it's good enough) and the Ambassador List page.
