I don't use emacs so In order to test scim + emacs for you I just installed it from the dvd. It didn't work.
Emacs works with scim for me. What problem did you encounter?
I don't use emacs so I didn't really put a lof of effort into it. What I observed is: Start emacs. Enter some English. No problem. Hit shift+space - scim window appears Type some chinese characters. Press space to enter them into emacs Emacs hangs Ctrl-Alt-Esc to kill the emacs window. Using the Options->Mule->Show Multi-Lingual Text displays Chinese and Japanese successfully. Should emacs work with scim or does one have to use some other im? Jethro

It should work and it works for me on SuSE 9.1. I just tried again on SuSE 9.1 and did input Japanese into Emacs with SCIM without any problem. Then I switched to smart-pinyin and Emacs appeared to hang but continued after I moved the focus to an xterm and then back to Emacs again. I started Emacs again to reproduce that problem but couldn't, it worked flawless many times. I see a similar problem quite often with mlterm: mlterm hangs when switching the SCIM input method but it continues after moving focus to an xterm and back. With mlterm I can almost always reproduce that, with Emacs I could reproduce it only once. I think this is some SCIM bug but apparently difficult to locate. -- Mike FABIAN <mfabian@suse.de> http://www.suse.de/~mfabian 睡眠不足はいい仕事の敵だ。
