LXQt 2.1.0 has released, which includes the new component
lxqt-wayland-session.
It officially supports 7 different Wayland compositors:
- labwc
- niri
- kwin6
- wayfire
- sway
- hyprland
- river
with expressed preference for labwc.
To keep a user experience similar to the one of openbox, which is
default for the X11 session, I would select a default compositor among
the stacking/floating ones, namely either labwc, kwin6 or wayfire.
sfalken also proposed [1] to default to miriway.
I have already submitted a new version of patterns-lxqt to X11:LXQt,
which for now is not optimal and open to edits and suggestions;
especially in the logic to require dependencies.
I have tested the labwc and kwin6 in a VM:
- labwc session is smooth, but in a VM it did not lock-hide the pointer;
- kwin6 was perfect, but it requires more dependencies for itself and
gave menus slow animations.
The idea would be to include the wayland session in the pattern, and to
make the default a pleasant experience.

Please do NOT accept any of the SR's I'm making right now for the Qt5
Packages. There are a few things I'm still ironing out, and they will
need some testing, I'll accept them myself when I think they're ready
for testing.

FYI - https://build.opensuse.org/project/monitor/openSUSE:Factory:Staging:adi:71
looks today much better than yesterday. still some unresoleables
However, a missing cmake(fm-qt6) blocks the remaining packages. Can one fix this please? zypper did not tell me where it should come from....
We have 3 SR open from AndnoVember - as you worked on the same packages, can you look into them Shwan?
Thanks
Axel
Hi,
we have currently 2 issues with the lxqt2 packages in Factory:
found conflict of libQt5Xdg3-3.12.0-1.5.x86_64 with libQt6Xdg4-4.0.0-1.1.x86_64
/etc/xdg/lxqt-qtxdg.conf
/etc/xdg/qtxdg.conf
-> rename *.conf to *6.conf?
can't install libfm-qt6-lang-2.0.2-1.1.noarch:
nothing provides libfm-qt6 = 2.0.2 needed by libfm-qt6-lang-2.0.2.noarch
I think we miss a
Provides: %{_name} = %{version}
in the spec file.
What do you think?
Cheers
Axel
Hi,
I cleaned the queue of SR a bit, we have three packages that are not yet in TW:
libsysstat
libdbusmenu-lxqt
libqt6xdg
Send them to Factory?
Cheers
Axel
Hi,
I had a look into the pending SR from Shawn.
Currently most of them are unresolveable. Probably because lxqt2-buildtools diappeared from the branch.
@Shawn - do you confirm?
Cheers
Axel
I am currently out of town, but if anybody else is working on the packages, the packaging in X11:LXQt:git should work for most of what changes are happening with 2.0, if you need references
