Hi Dan, hi all,
I just stumbled upon an old Vagrantfile of mine that used the openSUSE/Kubic
vagrant box:
https://app.vagrantup.com/opensuse/boxes/Kubic
Actually this seems to have been replaced with architecture-specific ones like
opensuse/Kubic.x86_64 or opensuse/Kubic.aarch64.
Nevertheless it is still available showing 20200419 as latest release.
Can someone maybe remove that one to avoid confusion?
I seem to remember that Dan was somehow involved in the whole Vagrant Boxes
thing, hence I added him to this mail directly (sorry, Dan!).
Kind Regards,
Johannes

Hi all,
I had to replace one of my nodes, and the replacement does not properly start SSH.
No problem, mounting the rootfs from a rescue disk and chrooting and... /etc is
read-only? Somehow the overlay for /etc does not work from within a chroot.
And I seem not to find any documentation on the exact layout of the btrfs
subvolumes and the overlay. Is that simply not in the wiki (except the short
summary in https://en.opensuse.org/Portal:MicroOS/Design#Filesystem_Layout)?
(As the machine has a 32 character root password that ansible created for me, I
thought using a rescue stick would be easier...)
Kind Regards,
Johannes

Hi all,
I just replaced one of my nodes in my kubic cluster, that was deployed last year
(around this time, IIRC).
Accepted the salt key, so it is properly shown on the salt master. Nevertheless
trying to add it via kubicctl fails, apparently because some grains are not
available:
> # salt -G kubicd:kubic-worker-node grains.get kubic-worker-node
> No minions matched the target. No command was sent, no jid was assigned.
> ERROR: No return received
Running the salt ping command (salt '*' test.ping) works and all three nodes are
reporting back.
Did something change in the setup since I deployed my cluster? Do I need to set
some grains manually?
Kind Regards,
Johannes

Hi all,
Given that the blog posts on kubic.opensuse.org often also relate to
MicroOS, I've changed microos.opensuse.org to now also share those blog
posts.
I've implimented this as a git submodule.
In simple terms, that means any changes to either the Kubic or MicroOS
blog now need to be contributed to
https://github.com/kubic-project/blog
Those changes should then appear on both kubic-o-o and microos-o-o
automatically.
If you have any cool MicroOS or Kubic topics you'd like to share with
the world, please submit your articles - the blog doesn't just have to
be regular product announcements, I'd love to see us share more
interesting stuff, like our recent posts about Rancher/RKE or speeding
up login times.
If you have any questions, please speak up!
Regards,
