Dave Kilroy, the guy who developed the WPA functionality in the orinoco driver has created 4 patches which fixes the issue and make my card work properly.

The patches are already included in the current compat-wireless-2.6.tar.bz2 tarball and will appear in kernel 2.6.37: patches 1, 3 and 4 are already included in 2.6.37-rc6. Is it possible to have them included in the next openSUSE 11.3 kernel update?

There is still an ongoing discussion about the suspend/resume issue: http://lists.infradead.org/pipermail/linux-pcmcia/2010-December/007671.html but that may take some time for a proper fix.
