[opensuse-kernel] Interrupts from the i915 module
Hi, in the 2.6.27.13-9 kernel, the i915 still generates a lot of interrupts which eventually costs on a laptop valuable energy (up to 20% difference on my laptop at least) I heard in the thinpad forum that this is actually a bug and that it is fixed in 2.6.28. However, it seems that in Ubuntu, the fix was propagated as a patch into 2.6.27 (intrepid-proposed, 2.6.27-11-generic x86_64?) Is there any plan to propagate that change into the 2.6.27 suse kernel as well? best, Volker -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org

Do you have a pointer to the fix in question? Without that it's hard to tell. If the fix is simple enough then it should probably go in 2.6.27-stable and we get it from there. -- Jean Delvare Suse L3 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org
Hi Jean, all I have is the email exchange with a thinkpad X300 user who as ubuntu on his laptop and who said that he had the same problem as I have now with the i915/DRI modules before he updated his kernel. I will ask that guy. best, Volker Jean Delvare wrote:

Hi Jean, here is the anwer I received :-)) First of all: I was Terribly wrong I did update my system and i915 Interrupts went down, but not due the fact of the new kernel, but due the fact of having the NoDRI Option still in my xorg.conf. So the SuSE folks are right, i also didn't find any patch/fix/whatever to make this go away! Sorry for the wrong Information sorry for the confusion. best, Volker Jean Delvare wrote:

But actually, that brings me back to an issue which I had posted earlier, that the laptop cannot resume from standby when the i915/DRI module is not loaded. WIth that module, however, it resumes happily. Are there similar observations by someone else? best, Volker Jean Delvare wrote:
