all I have is the email exchange with a thinkpad X300 user who as ubuntu
on his laptop and who said that he had the same problem as I have now
with the i915/DRI modules before he updated his kernel.
I will ask that guy.

I heard in the thinpad forum that this is actually a bug and that it is
fixed in 2.6.28.
However, it seems that in Ubuntu, the fix was propagated as a patch into
2.6.27 (intrepid-proposed, 2.6.27-11-generic x86_64?)
Is there any plan to propagate that change into the 2.6.27 suse kernel
Do you have a pointer to the fix in question? Without that it's hard
to tell. If the fix is simple enough then it should probably go in
2.6.27-stable and we get it from there.
