For the openSUSE kernel, we're really just being conservative. The
memory allocator is such a core part of the kernel that I'd prefer to
see it go through a number of releases without any bug reports on LKML.
Really, it's targeting the really large systems, so it has been out of
scope for openSUSE as well.
