hi all,
there is a very long living bug in the alx kernel driver module: https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=70761
i also suffer from this bug.
it seems, that nobody currently maintains this kernel module. so this bug remains unfixed.
but recently someone (prudy1@o2.pl) found the bug source and made some patches.
can the opensuse kernel team try to update/patch the alx module and include this fix in the next opensuse kernel from http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/Kernel:/stable/standard ???
We have "upstream first" rule. Such fixes patches have to be submitted to upstream and accepted there at first, then we'll backport them to our kernels appropriately. That said, if you confirmed that these patches are working, ask the original author to submit them to the subsystem maintainers and ML. At best, give the URL of the bug in the patch log and also give your "Tested-by" tag, for showing that these actually do fix the things. And, don't forget to put Cc to stable@vger.kernel.org in the patch itself, so that it'll be picked up by stable kernels later automatically. thanks, Takashi -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+owner@opensuse.org
