Is there any reason not to use the newer SLUB allocator?
If you're an advanced enough user to be asking questions about which memory allocator we use, you're welcome to test it by building your own kernel. I'm sure Christoph would love feedback. For the openSUSE kernel, we're really just being conservative. The memory allocator is such a core part of the kernel that I'd prefer to see it go through a number of releases without any bug reports on LKML. Really, it's targeting the really large systems, so it has been out of scope for openSUSE as well. - -Jeff - -- Jeff Mahoney SUSE Labs -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v2.0.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with SUSE - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iEYEARECAAYFAkiF+I4ACgkQLPWxlyuTD7IKOwCfTCj1saRbLlwEov9OWKndx+Ix MjEAoJXRs9yuP01Vb+ZCF5bowxlH95oL =/rMu -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kernel+help@opensuse.org
