My wild guess is that some unstable I2C transfer for DDC, and we might see what data got corrupted when comparing between good and bad read EDID values. But it's definitely device-specific, and hard to debug by others than the hardware owner.
I can't promise anything but there might be a time window during this weekend when I might be in possession of my current laptop, another one that has an Intel GPU where I'll also install OpenSUSE, *and* the problematic ASUS monitor. If there are a couple of easy commands that you can instruct me to run on both computers and paste the output here that could allow you do do the comparison, if it's something quick I might be able to do that.
