[opensuse-kde] KDE 4.6.0 battery indicator says no battery there
Does anyone with a laptop have the same issue? On KDE 4.6.0 the battery indicator says, there was no battery. Xosview shows the correct battery load. Malte -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

a colleague of mine has the same problem on openSUSE 11.2 - on all my PCs with openSUSE 11.3 everything works fine though... do you use openSUSE 11.2, too? Nico

In KDE SC 4.6 Solid switched to using upower instead of HAL. Though I think it should be able to fall back to HAL, your problems are probably related to this change. Check your installations if you have upower and/or HAL installed and working. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

If upower was not installed please let us know and I will make it a dependency for 11.2. Will -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

When I look in YasT, there is no package "upower" for openSUSE 11.2 available... Or is there a repo that offers upower for openSUSE 11.2? Malte -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Let's try using the legacy HAL backend instead of upower. try $ SOLID_HAL_LEGACY=1 plasmoidviewer battery Does that show your battery in the windowed plasmoid? If so, put export SOLID_HAL_LEGACY=1 in your $HOME/.profile and re-login. That solved the issue! Thanx. I've put it into ~/.kde4/env. I just wonder why SUSE did not do that in the first place for the KDE 4.6 packages for openSUSE 11.2...... I just wonder why it seems to be so hard to understand the concepts "unspported repository" and "community distribution" - certainly neither of those concepts are very compatible with a consumer mentality. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

If it is forbidden to fix things in a project because it is officially unsupported, the project is a waste of time. If it is forbidden to talk about what should be fixed, it is censorship. I understand that you need to concentrate on the Factory thing, but bashing everyone not on Factory "just because" is counterproductive. If it is too much trouble for you to read, create and recommend another way to report problems. Please respond with a charter so that we know what to expect and who to talk to. You seem confused about a number of things. 1) That was not a constructive suggestion to fix a problem, that was clueless whining about a problem existing in the first place when using an untested, unsupported repo on an old distro. 2) I'm not a packager. 3) Factory is not supported either, and Factory users don't have any whining privileges either. Reporting problems and suggesting solutions in a friendly and sensible manner is a different matter. 4) I'm not in any kind of position to write any kind of official charter. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
