How to use Konqueror's SFTP feature
Dear Friends, I wish to log on to my university's server via SFTP and up-/down- load files from my account there. I have just discovered that Konqueror supports SFTP. I have downloaded files from my my university's server to my desktop. However, I don't see how I can upload anything. Please help. Thanks very much. - Ram. --

Please have a look at the fish protocol. Regards, -- martin Dipl.-Phys. Martin Konold e r f r a k o n Erlewein, Frank, Konold & Partner - Beratende Ingenieure und Physiker Nobelstrasse 15, 70569 Stuttgart, Germany fon: 0711 67400963, fax: 0711 67400959 email: martin.konold@erfrakon.de

I figured out the solution. Both SFTP and FISH seem to give me the same result --- when I log into the university's server, I have only window that shows the list of my folders and files on the server. But, I don't see the file structure on my PC. I have so far used WinSCP on Windows, so I was used to finding two parallel panels in one window: one panel showing my desktop's content's and the other panel showing the server's contents. So, I was trying to find a similar panel structure in Konqueror. But, Konqueror does not seem to work that way. So, this is how I upload my files to the server now: I open another Konqueror window in which I display my PC's contents. Then, I drag and drop from this new window into the Window showing the server's contents. Best wishes, Ram.

Yes, that's the normal way of doing things in konqueror (independent of using fish or ftp or doing local file transfers). But you can configure konqueror to have a split view, too. Just check the "window" menu of your konqueror. Greets, Daniel
