Hello list, I'm running SuSE 8.1 with Nvidia GEForce 2 ultra (Nvidia drivers) and looking for some tips from experienced users who have a stable system. My system runs fine in the desktop, however when running games (racer, Wolfenstein) I continue to get lockups. I have AGP 4X enabled in the bios however, I have turned this setting off (2X) and it doesn't appear to help with stability. There are numerous settings for the driver in the README file I'm just looking for stability. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Rodney
ja! don't worry about it!.... I have a XP PC with same video card and also
do same....when I wanna play something with 3D access algoritms my PC
reboot... I think there isn't problem with software.... maybe a bug in the
hardware...

It took some time, reading README files from NVIDIA, and testing for me to get my tnt2 card stable. With my system (AMD1.4, Asus a7a266 mobo) I was not able to use AGPGART and have a stable system. Once I started using the nvidia driver, my locking problems went away. To do this, I added: Option "NvAgp" "1" to the Device section. From Apendix D of the README: Option "NvAGP" "integer" Configure AGP support. Integer argument can be one of: 0 : disable agp 1 : use NVIDIA's internal AGP support, if possible 2 : use AGPGART, if possible 3 : use any agp support (try AGPGART, then NVIDIA's AGP) Please note that NVIDIA's internal AGP support cannot work if AGPGART is either statically compiled into your kernel or is built as a module, but loaded into your kernel (some distributions load AGPGART into the kernel at boot up). Default: 3 (the default was 1 until after 1.0-1251). Perhaps this will work for you too. Hope this helps. David On Thu, 7 Nov 2002, webmaster wrote:

I could also be that the monitor needs to be fine tune as well. This will have a direct impact on the way the nvidia card and the 3D apps interact as well. Here is a snip of my XF86Config file. Mind you I'm running a GF3-Ti200: Snip Section "Device" BoardName "GeForce3 Ti 200" BusID "1:0:0" Driver "nvidia" Identifier "Device[0]" Screen 0 Option "Rotate" "off" VendorName "NVidia" Option "NoLogo" "1" Option "DigitalVibrance" "2" Option "UseEdidFreqs" "1" EndSection HTH, Curtis. -- Billboard Writer vs. Literature = Micorsoft vs. Computing,
