[opensuse-kde] Desktop Folder--> My Computer Reporting wrong Nvidia driver?
Video card Nvidia 8400GS When I display the Nvidia configuration with NVIDIA X Server Settings it shows 190.53. with RPM command I get: rpm -qa |grep nvidia x11-video-nvidiaG02-190.53-9.1.x86_64 nvidia-gfxG02-kmp-desktop-190.53_2.6.31.5_0.1-8.1.x86_64 Hardware info in YaST shows the driver as nvidia. When I use desktop folder --> My Computer, shows the nvidia driver as nv. This is happening on both 11.2 KDE 4.4.1. release 225 and on 11.3 MS3 KDE 4.4.1 release 227. If I do dmesg right after boot up I get error message in 11.3 as follows: [ 14.845426] nvidia: module license 'NVIDIA' taints kernel. I do find a xorg.conf in var/lib/sax but its from 11-2009. Show my old Panasonic monitor. my actual monitor is now a Samsung lcd. Its detected correctly by YaSt and hwdinfo. How can I tell which driver is really in use? My kernel is: 2.6.31.12-18-desktop on 11.2. installed to get around shutdown problem. The problem above existed before I installed the kernel update.
