[opensuse-kde] Weather plasmoid

Hi Is anyone else having issue with them? THey don't seem to work anymore, i had mine configured for London UK (using Wettercom - i used to be able to use BBC but now that seems no longer an option) but now the list of weather stations has disappeared. regards Ian -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

I tried installing a (the?) weather plasmoid to see if it would work for me and was unable to configure it for Kansas City, MO, a not un-large city (we've got a team in the NFL) (sure it always looses but we've got a team, OK?) -- so yes, it appears something isn't working -- _|_ _ __|_|_ ._ o| |_(_)(_)|_| ||_)||< | -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Same here (more or less). Sometimes it works - sometimes it doesn't. I have mine configured for Hamburg, Germany, and it used to work reliably until a few weeks ago, then went to "sometimes-on-sometimes-off" mode. Since yesterday it has been in off-mode. Quite a while back I had network problems and at that time the widget at least showed a message to the effect that it couldn't reach the server. Now (with no general network problem) it simply shows the blank window with "Hamburg" in the title. Greets Mike On Saturday 15 March 2014 09:45:56 tooth pik wrote:

I found that opening konsole and then stopping and restarting the network service resolved the problem. Cheers! Roman -------------------------------------------- openSUSE -- Get it! Discover it! I always have a konsole open, with several tabs -- on the first tab I have weather in text mode -- this may only work for people in the US, but for others it may serve as an example of how they might do it -- the format of the weather data is a moving target, so be prepared to update occasionally for those in the US, you can personalize it by going to http://forecast.weather.gov configure it to point at your location, copy the resulting url, and paste it into ~/php/cw.php the driver script is ccw, you can grab it at https://github.com/toothpik/toothpik-s-.vimrc/blob/master/bin/ccw ccw uses ~/php/cw.php and ~/py/parseweather.py, can be had from https://github.com/toothpik/toothpik-s-.vimrc/blob/master/php/cw.php https://github.com/toothpik/toothpik-s-.vimrc/blob/master/py/parseweather.py (if the above urls are problematic, start at http://toothpik.github.com and look for konsole one) have fun -- _|_ _ __|_|_ ._ o| |_(_)(_)|_| ||_)||< | -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

for those in the US, you can personalize it by going to
configure it to point at your location, copy the resulting url, and paste it into ~/php/cw.php
the driver script is ccw, you can grab it at
https://github.com/toothpik/toothpik-s-.vimrc/blob/master/bin/ccw
ccw uses ~/php/cw.php and ~/py/parseweather.py, can be had from
https://github.com/toothpik/toothpik-s-.vimrc/blob/master/php/cw.php https://github.com/toothpik/toothpik-s-.vimrc/blob/master/py/parseweather.py
(if the above urls are problematic, start at
and look for konsole one)
have fun
My information is stored in a data file ~.cache/yawp/envcan_Toronto_ON.dat Which plasmoid are you using. I'm using the default weather plasmoid? -- Cheers! Roman -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

me? my last post wasn't about any plasmoids, it was to show an alternative to plasmoids using konsole, bash, php, and python scripts that works more reliably than plasmoids -- _|_ _ __|_|_ ._ o| |_(_)(_)|_| ||_)||< | -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
