[opensuse-kde] phonon-backend-vlc crashes knotify4 and Amarok on openSUSE 13.2
Hi all, I submitted a bug report upstream on 2015-11-13 20:45:14 UTC for the phonon-backend-vlc when installed on openSUSE 13.2 crashes kcm-phonon. Ref: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355309 If phonon-backend-vlc is installed the crash is still happening. They have it marked as resolved. -- Cheers! If phonon-backend-vlc is installed the crash is still happening. The problem is that this only happens if you install the newer version of vlc from packman. So the distribution can't provide a "fixed" phonon-backend-vlc, because this would break when using the distributions vlc. And on packman there is no one who takes the task to build a matching phonon-backend-vlc package because phonon-backend-gstreamer can replace it. So the solution for now is: If you want to run vlc from packman remove phonon-backend-vlc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

That is what I've been doing. I was hoping to finish up testing an unresolved bug with openSUSE 13.2. Does this mean that it will be resolved later this year? I believe it works with vlc-beta. Although I have Plasma 5 installed on another drive. My plan was to stay with KDE4 until Plasma 5 is more stabilized in 42.2 or 42.3. Cheers!
