KDE 3.4.2 smb:/ folder not found
Hi, Just trying 3.4 on Suse 9.1 from the official Novell update site using yast. All find except samba connection in Konqueror is broken. Darned shame as their's quite a lot of windows out there. Nothing in messages or .xsession-errors. The kde samba rpms are installed. Only clue to a problem is the smb:/ folder not found message. smb4k works a treat. I have reverted back to Kde 3.3.0 today and smb:/ works fine! Any pointers? Berni
Hi mailing list: Very, very extrange.!!! I have never seen this in the many years I've been using linux. I can install software from my dvdrom using yast2, and I can also watch movies using my dvdrom, but when I need to navigate, for exemple to copy a file from a DVD, >>it's NOT THERE<<< under /media/dvd where it should be mounted. To access the content of DVDS, I mean the data in order to copy, etc, I have then to become root and issue the comand line, as in the old linux times: mount /dev/dvd /media/dev anybody knows what the hell is hapening in this new SuSE 10.0 OSS final release I have just installed??? help, please greetings jorge

Strange - you are the second person to report that. I am running SUSE 10 Gold (not OSS) and am perfectly able to handle data from my DVD.

Great. I see I've got the same symptoms. I, too, am using the SuSE Eval distribution. This message is poorly placed in SuSE-KDE. It should be in SuSE-Linux-E or the openSUSE list. Randall Schulz

When I insert a CD or DVD the auto mounting magic creates a new directory with the label of the CD/DVD as the name. That new directory is used as the mount point. When you insert the DVD, what are the subdirectories of /media? Another thing to check is CTRL+ALT+F10 and see if there are any messages there after you insert the DVD. They may give a hint as to what is happening? Alvin -- Please reply to the list.
- not sure what happened to this thread...it seems to be mangled a bit. Can I ask Has anyone tried smb:/ in 3.4.2 on Suse 9.1 as below? I'll have a bit more of a look but just not sure at mo where to start debug. All hints appreciated. Berni Berni Elbourn wrote:
