[opensuse-kde] kmail and filter, still broken..
HI, I just installed 12.2 then upgraded to kde-4.9.1, so far so good but kmail filtering is still broken :( Selecting all msg (ctrlL+a) then apply filters (ctrl+j) works only on opened msg... I'm seriously thinking about switching to thunderbird... -- *** Linux user # 198661 ---_ ICQ 33500725 *** *** Home http://www.kailed.net *** *** Powered by openSUSE *** -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
Hi, Together ! Only stating Danis msg. Filtering in kmail isn't stable nor even reliable since at least 4.8.4 Tried up to KDE 4.9.2 (kmail 4.8.5) - still too much manual postwork. Often some mails aren't filtered at all or conflict messages or error messages appear which have to be cleared manually. Is in kmail a possibility/option to write debug-logs ? To get a chance to send some info ? greets, Am Fr 28.09.2012, 18:47:56 schrieb Daniele:

I would have done it, unless for the info that I've in my contact cards, wich it's not exportable to other pims. Thinking going back to KDE 3.5; at least with kontact :( Lívio -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Most things about filtering are working now if you use IMAP. So I'd rather switch from POP3 to IMAP. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
Hi, Sven ! Nice try ! I'm explicit on POP, trying to filter some hundreds emails a day. What do you think is the alternative ? How long to wait for improvement ? greets, Am Mi 03.10.2012, 22:29:39 schrieb Sven Burmeister:

As long as it takes that somebody using POP3 invests some time into the POP3 code. Sven -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

Sven All my accounts are IMAP and filters are still buggy ! It seems that filtering subject give better result than working on

I use IMAP with multiple filters on incoming mail, some working on the subject, some on list-post etc. The only thing that does not work is that spam emails re-appear after they have been moved. Sven Ok, I can confirm that filtering the subject works perfectly !! For sure not the best solution but enough for my needs.

As stated, filtering for List-Post works as well. Did you check via Tools > Filter logs whether your other filters work? Some users found that their filters did not have a valid target folder anymore. Hi, Sven ! For me it's the problem that some specific filter sporadically misses at all - msg stays unread in input. And sometimes this filter works - but not completely, say: it should move the msg to a dest folder and it does, second: it should mark it as read and it doesn't. Most msgs are filtered, but some not. Some stay in input as read although I never touched them. So there are mails left in input, some new and some marked as read, though they should be all filtered completely to some existing dest folder and marked as something. Btw - keeping filter logging active is no good idea for me at all - it slows down filtering bad. Coping with more than 1000 emails a day is no pleasure its just impossible. Ah, sorry - I forgot something: manual marking and filtering this rest with CTRL-J does the job. Most. ;) Greets, Am Fr 05.10.2012, 01:09:00 schrieb pf:

Sven Well, I did tons of test.. nothing usefull in the filter logs and is not a folder issue, it symply never match the rules..

Sure, there is. There is the filter log (see the Tools menu), then you can enabled the different log areas for KDE applications with "kdebugdialog". Here you should enable the one for the akonadi filter agent (and disable most of the others to not get a too big log) and restart akonadi from a console with "akonadictl restart". You will see the debug logs then. Andras -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
Hi, news.gmane.org is broken, so sorry for breaking the threading. I read about the POP3/disconnected IMAP filtering problems. What I can say I extensively use both and have filters for both. The few things I noticed so far are: - after resume from hibernation, the filter agent can be busy (not sure why) for a few minutes - after resume from hibernation if some mail arrived meantime to the POP3 inbox, they might not be filtered - ocassionally (but not more than 1/day), I get a conflict dialog What I didn't try yet is spam filtering on online IMAP. In any case, there will be a KDEPIM development sprint next weekend. Test the latest version (if from source, even better, if not, try the latest release), gather as much information/logs as possible, find how problems can be reproduced and report them as bugs, so I can look at them at the sprint.
