[opensuse-kde] opensuse 11.3 kde hibernate/suspend only locks screen
Hi all, I have upgraded my laptop to 11.3 from 11.1 and everything works fine except hibernate and suspend options in the kicker menu only locks the screen and not do suspend/hibernate. If i run pm-hibernate or pm-suspend then everything works correctly and restarts correctly. Any ideas? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

What happens if you do it from the battery icon in the panel? I get exactly the same action, ie, it locks the screen only I dont know if this is relevant but when I insert cdrom discs into the drive no user can mount the drive and a bit of digging and I found that policykit.conf file has nothing between the <config></config> The policy settings in the kde settings manager shows "yes" for Active console -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

A little more information - when I am on the KDM screen and select hibernate it asks for the root password so it is definately a policy issue. Does anyone know where the policy is set? -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

after running polkit --user ... I found my users had no rights. A bit of investigation and a look in the security section i found that changing the overall security from secure to easy provided me with the appropriate policies. I'm not sure the settings are really appropriate for the secure settings on a laptop/desktop. not being able to suspend it or hibernate it let alone mount cds/dvds etc... Maybe these settings are more appropriate for paranoid Anyway the problem is solved just need to work out what else I have opened up.
