Hello Ben, As I have not used the command line very much do I just do wvdial on screen at boot then alt F2 log in and then type ftp://your source, look thru the files then type download the file name? Is there an easy way from command line to edit source file to include gwdg? Thanks David Ben Rosenberg wrote:

But yes, if you have wvdial configured correctly then you can just execute it via cli and then use something like ncftp which I use regardless if I am in X or just at a console. It works quite well. :) -- Ben Rosenberg ---===---===---===--- mailto:ben@whack.org Tell me what you believe.. I'll tell you what you should see.

There is quite a lot wrong in the url, you're using: ftp://mirrors.mathematik.uni-bietefeld.de ^ must be an "l" = el pub/linux/SuSE/ must be pub/linux/suse/ In total this is: ftp://mirrors.mathematik.uni-bielefeld.de/pub/linux/suse/apt/SuSE/8.0-i386/ But before you become happy, the above mentioned apt repository is only copying parts of the gwdg apt repository :(( That is confusing, but that's the way it is (free service). The apt component "funktronics" is not provided, just like usr-local-bin, extra, neither are I believe: suse-people, suser*, packman*, kde3-stable. 250 OK. Current directory is /pub/linux/suse/apt/SuSE/8.0-i386/RPMS.funktronics ftp> ls 500 Unknown command 227 Entering Passive Mode (129,70,15,78,160,34) 150 Accepted data connection 226-Options: -l 226 0 matches total ftp> What you can do of course is refer to the uni-bielefeld.de apt repository for base, update, kde, etc and the rest must be taken from gwdg.

I would like to thank you, Ben, and Patrick for all the help you have given me over the past few days. I now have kde back on line and have once again learned alot from the people on this list. Once again THANK YOU. David
