[opensuse-kde] kde 4.11.3 (KR411) + nouveau on laptop & external screen
I'm using nouveau (replacing nvidia blob). I'm quite happy with it but I've one trouble I don't know where to start to dig. The brightness & dim display is working on the laptop. Also placing lappy screen in suspend mode work. I've a HP ZR2240w external monitor connected to the DisplayPort monitor in clone mode. The external monitor is never suspended ( was working before with nvidia blob ). I would like to make Geeko a bit more greener and suspend to monitor. Has anyone an idea where to start to dig ? -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Sàrl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

From my experience using Nvidia video products, the nouveau drivers have problems in certain areas. I usually find I have to download the *.run driver files from Nvidia and install them in place of the nouveau ones. In my case the major problem was that the nouveau driver would not re-start after sleep/hibernate on a single monitor system. Also be aware that laptops in general have more problems of this type than do desktops. Not sure why that is. Thanks for the input Thomas, I've already seen a big crash after I suspend to ram with the two monitors and wake up on an external network without the second monitor, make the system crazy ... I was hoping to free myself from having 1000 nvidia rebuild each time the kernel change (I live with kernel:stable) nothings perfect :-) -- Bruno Friedmann Ioda-Net Srl www.ioda-net.ch openSUSE Member GPG KEY : D5C9B751C4653227 irc: tigerfoot -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
