What? Problems with 4.6beta kmail2? Very surprising ;-) It's not like it's an application currently going through huge, fundamental changes in addition to being a beta. If you want to try something new, maybe do a bit of homework about the status of the app first, so you don't waste your time. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

But the problems are of my own making, not unworking as installed software. It worked until I tried removing configured mail sites. -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
Solved: akonadictrl stop Moved all kontact and kmail/kmail2 files below ~/.kde4/share/, moved all *akonadi* files below ~/.local/share/, moved all *akonadi*, *kontact*, and *kmail* files below ~/.kde4/share/config/. akonadictrl start kontact reconfigured kmail imported ~/.kde4/share/apps/korganizer/*.ics to a new calendar which I set as default imported ~/.kde4/share/apps/kabc/*.vcf to contacts I have control again and a functioning kontact. Kmail also works, *but*, mutt is better! Will attempt to set up a local mbox file for kmail to access the few html emails I care to read. sure was simpler when there were fewer overlapping applications and config files were easier to locate and affix functionality. Guess I'm just getting old{er}. -- Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA HOG # US1244711 http://wahoo.no-ip.org Photo Album: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/gallery2 Registered Linux User #207535 @ http://counter.li.org -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Thanks for posting your solution, nothing like doing a search to troubleshoot a problem and only finding questions. And yes I am (fairly) sure you are getting older :-) see ya dh -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

I am leaning towards shipping kdepim4 4.4.x as the default in 11.4 - I am pessimistic that 4.6 will be ready for our userbase by release time. Kubuntu have already put kdepim 4.4.x built vs kdelibs 4.6 in their equivalent of KDE:Distro:Factory and 4.6 pim is exiled to an experimetal repo. We may do the same. I'm waiting for a response from the PIM team. I guess the check-in deadline for 11.4ms5 has already passed? Actually feature and version freeze for 11.4 is on Thursday too. We need a decision very soonish, so whatever is shipped can be tested - since akonadi and nepomuk packaging clearly needs a thorough testing. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org

Hi, I have been using KMail for ages with IMAP and DIMAP and KDEPIM from 4.6 IMO is just not ready. Memory and CPU usage are way outside of what 4.4.x and Tbird use. There are some bugs where on start it seems to rescan all 80k of my message store and then re-runs the threading month by month - starting in 2003. I will keep it installed to see the progress, but I think it is a real gamble to expect it to be useable before the final release. If it were my call as a release manager I would be shipping 4.4.x without hesitation. 4.4.x works very well and in my use extremely stable. I do not mean to sound harsh at all. There is just so many new bits in KDEPIM that need more polish and work. I am sure they will get there, but given the size of the job, it is unfair to ask the devs to fix it in a few weeks. Ok, I wouldn't know. It stays disabled here until it reaches at least beta quality. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-kde+help@opensuse.org
