[opensuse-kde] openSUSE 11.2 - KDE3 nada
I don't see any kind of meta package to get KDE3 installed, so after completing a fresh install with only XFCE selected (neither Gnome nor KDE4) I just looked to see what the mirrors have and used zypper to in the ones I thought necessary. That didn't work. http://fm.no-ip.com/tmp/SUSE/112/kdepkg-kt880.txt lists what kde & x11 packages are currently installed. What else do I need? Is there some kind a meta package to make installation easier? I see other "patterns" installed, but zypper can't find patterns-openSUSE-kde3. Right now the only X I can get is some kind of simple xterm by using startx, as I did zypper rm all of XFCE in hopes that all that would be left would be KDE3. /usr/bin/startkde3 exists, but doesn't start KDE3, giving "cannot open display", "$DISPLAY is not set", "ksmserver: cannot connect to server" messages instead. Appending :0 or :1 to the command does not help. init 5 fails to start KDM, blanking the screen for a while before dumping me back to the login prompt I used to do init 5. http://fm.no-ip.com/tmp/SUSE/112/kdmlog-kt880.txt is kdm.log after attempting init 5 with two different versions of xorg.conf, then with no xorg.conf. http://fm.no-ip.com/tmp/SUSE/112/Xorg0log.startkde3.kt880.txt is Xorg.0.log from startkde3 with no xorg.conf file. http://fm.no-ip.com/tmp/SUSE/112/xorg-sax2-kt880.conf is the xorg.conf file generated by sax2. Hmmm. Just put Option "NoRandr" in xorg.conf and commented 'Load "glx"', and startx gets me a KDE3 session. http://fm.no-ip.com/tmp/SUSE/112/xorg.conf.0f-1600x1200x120x16bpp-mga is the currently working xorg.conf. init 5 still won't start KDM. http://fm.no-ip.com/tmp/SUSE/112/Xorg0log.kt880.init5.txt is Xorg.0.log from trying. Good day, KDE3 has been dropped with 11.2, it still is in the unmaintained KDE3 build service repository: http://en.opensuse.org/KDE3 This should basicly work like on 11.1, same package structure etc. Regards, Karsten Am Samstag, 28. November 2009 08:39:51 schrieb Felix Miata:
