[opensuse-kde] kopete crashes with kdelibs 4.14.14

hi, kopete is not working any more. running kopete under KDE plamsa 5.5.1 had this behaviour: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355275 now, after updating to KDE plasma 5.5.2 it crashes immediatelly after start. as stated in https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=355275 a downgrade of kdelibs4 to 4.14.13 should help, but that is not available for tumbleweed. the solution of the above mentionied KDE bug is the new version of kdelibs4 4.14.16 which is also not available for tumbleweed. so, currently kopete is dead..... :-( -- *Rainer Klier* Research & Development, Technical Sales Consultant Namirial GmbH (xyzmo SIGNificant is now Namirial) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

As the upstream bug report, clearly states (and you even refer to it), the bug is resolved with kdelibs4-4.14.16 which at this moment is non-existent. The latest released version of kdelibs4 is 4.14.15. The upgrade of Plasma5 has nothing to do with this bug as that this is a KDE4 issue !! yes, i know this. but currently (after upgrading TW to, amongst other parts, KDE plasma 5.5.2) it is a little bit differnet. now kopete crashes at the moment i start it. before the latest TW update the behaviour was like the kde bug reports, kopete crashed whenever i closed any kopete chat window. now, after the latest update, it crahses immediately. and kdelibs4 is the same old 4.14.14 version in both different situations. anyhow, kopete is unusable now, regardless if it would crash after closing a window or immediately. i can only hope, that kdelibs4-4.14.16 will arrive anytime soon..... -- *Rainer Klier* Research & Development, Technical Sales Consultant Namirial GmbH (xyzmo SIGNificant is now Namirial) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

I am preparing the update to 4.14.15 at the moment. I will include the upstream revert commit with this update to resolve the issue. My assumption is that 4.14.16 would be released sometime this month, together with the KDE Applications 15.12.1 update. so you know from which backport/revert commit they are talking about in this KDE ticket? cool. this would be great! thanks. can you currently also reproduce the issue?

ok. -- *Rainer Klier* Research & Development, Technical Sales Consultant Namirial GmbH (xyzmo SIGNificant is now Namirial) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org

today i installed the update to 4.14.15 and the crash when closing a window is gone. but the crash when starting kopete still remains. it has something to do with /usr/lib64/kde4/kopete_jabber.so i moved the file away and now kopete starts but i can now of course only see my skype contacts. here is the crash log output: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bwpj5Wm8iVh-ZXQ4enhtNVdETVE/view?usp=sharin... -- *Rainer Klier* Research & Development, Technical Sales Consultant Namirial GmbH (xyzmo SIGNificant is now Namirial) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde+owner@opensuse.org
