When I click on a link in an e-mail or mailing list message, such as

My default browser (Firefox) starts up and loads a cached copy of the page, rather than the online page itself. So the example given above, results in me looking at
file:///home/bob/.kde4/cache-barrowhillfarm/krun/6996.0.smart-questions.h tm l
I can't remember when this started happening. I don't remember consciously changing any setting. Is there some way to get it back to loading the actual link address into the browser address bar?
How did you set the default browser to firefox? Apparently this is caused by an Exec line for the browser without %u or %U URL placeholders.

I would have done it in the KDE Control Centre/Personal Settings Configure Desktop, and I would have picked Firefox from the the list of browsers available (no definite memory of these actions as it was some time ago, and I've recently had a general anaesthetic, but I usually use GUI configuration programs/menus when they're provided). I've added %u and will try a little link clicking ... ... hmm, it now seems that it can't find the application mozillafirefox. If I choose the upper radio button "in an application based on the contents of the URL" then Konqueror opens with the URL correctly loaded. I'll stick with Konq as my default browser, while I'm convalescing from this op.
