Is it a good idea to recompile my kernel after the installation and everything is running great? Iam trying to get ride of some annoying kernel errors as well as speed up the boot process. Any suggestions? daniel
As long as everything is running there is no need to recompile. The speed up for booting is minimal (you will achieve more checking for unneeded services). The speed up at run time is mostly said to be between 5 and 10 percent, I would guess in most cases around 5% which you will not really feel. What kernel errors are you talking about? You should probably work on these. And if you recompile because of these you can check out some other things (removing unneeded modules...) Chris
