No, I didn't. I only use the self-compiled downloads from NVidia. Is there a reason you asked? Some people forget to remove the other driver before they install a new one and that leads to problems. Did you try the driver from the repo (after removing the self-compiled one)?
And you can check whether you have a xorg.conf, 11.4 should not have one and if there is a left-over it could also cause trouble.
Sven Hi Sven,
No, I didn't have the repo driver installed - I used the NVidia download only. I do have an xorg.conf - immediately after a clean (reformat) install - as well as xorg.conf.d. The NVidia installer may have created it, but I thought that if the xorg.conf file was present, it overrides the directory? I think the NVidia installer uses the file anyway.
