Hi,
This is a rather trivial question but I am not able to find a way to this I use the open dialog but I cannot file where those files are loaded on the system. With 8.2 I used media/cdrecorder to get to them but with 9.1 it seems to be at in a different spot that I cannot find?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks. George
If your using a standard SuSE 9.1 install then you're also using the submount program. When you attach removable media to your system the submount program will TRY to recognize the media for what it is and automatically mount it at a permanent location. The name of the mount point depends of the type of removable media, e.g. /media/cdrecorder /media/ieee1394_sbp2 /media/usb-storage-odd-Sony After you insert the audio CD and the drive spins up, from the CLI run mount. What do you see? Did submount try to mount the audio CD? Very often this happens to me. Even though audio CDs contain no file system, submount often tries to mount the audio CD. I have to su to root and unmount the audio CD, wait a moment for the system to update, then try xmms again. Submount is such a pain. Take a took at /var/log/messages when you insert the audio CD. Taken from Submount src rpm: Submount is a system for automatically mounting and unmounting removable media drives like CD-ROMs and floppy disk drives. Once installed, it allows removable media drives to be accessed as if they were permanently mounted. Example line for a CD-ROM drive in /etc/fstab: /dev/cdrom /media/cdrom subfs fs=cdfss,ro 0 0 Example line for a floppy drive in /etc/fstab: /dev/floppy /media/floppy subfs fs=floppyfss, sync HTH Chris Shanahan
