How can I switch on a debug logging ? Run 'kdebugdialog'. Enabling logging (which is kde- globally disabled by default, for speed, ironically) will allow all KDE apps to log to standard output. In a session started from a display manager, this is redirected to ~/.xsession-errors. You can watch this file during login with tail from a console, or ideally, a remote machine so you can watch the session startup process on another display.
Will Hi Will,
thanks for your hint. Good to know this for the future. For now I had fixed the problem by deleting the $HOME/.kde* directories. During next logon it came up quite fast.
