I am using the download version of Suse 8.2. Would this be the reason why the YOU never told me about the KDE 3.1.3??
No, this is normal. I never saw a KDE update on YOU except security updates.
If i want to upgrade to 3.1.3 can i just download the files from the Suse KDE site & install them??. Would it install over the existing 3.1.1 ??
This is in short how to upgrade KDE: - - backup your system! - - download all the packages that are installed on your system from ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_8.2/* and save all files in one directory. - - to be save I decided to download everything from base, applications and development plus the language dependend file from internationalization (e.g. for German this is kde3-i18n-de-3.1.3-0.noarch.rpm) - - go to runlevel 3, login as root, cd to the directory where you saved all downloaded files and run "rpm -Fvh *.rpm" (without the quotes). This way all installed packages will be refreshed with the new versions. If you get any error messages fix the problems first, then try again ;-) - - as root run /sbin/SuSEconfig - - go back to runlevel 5. Your system should now be running KDE 3.1.3 Ciao, Oliver -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.2-rc1-SuSE (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/RFKs2xKg64Yci0URApbhAKCsFA9sGPFV+vb7YcmIO9kro4rL3wCcDIds pLMk3i0mupnyzRzrbx1puCA= =sdPW -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
