I am still on 3.4 using the boxed version and have not upgraded, is 3.5 that much different??
Hmmm. Tough one to answer. It's a bit prettier, a little slicker, and there's features here and there that are useful. But on the flipside, it's not "supported" by Novell/SuSE, and doesn't get the level of QA that the mainline gets.
I think I will wait for a supported one, I love KDE but I don't have the time to fix stuff as I use SuSE for my daily work...maybe I can do it on one of my home boxes..
If you're experienced, don't mind getting stuck in when you encounter an oddity, then I'd say it is worth it. Take a look at the release notes on: http://www.kde.org/announcements/announce-3.5.php
http://www.kde.org/announcements/changelogs/changelog3_5to3_5_1.php
http://www.kde.org/announcements/changelogs/changelog3_5_1to3_5_2.php
to see the major things that might tempt you.
Thanks for the links
Interestingly I saw on kde.org that they are aiming for an October time Tech Preview. Nice to be right ;-) There's also a working list of KDE4 features at: http://wiki.kde.org/KDE+4+Goals for anyone who's curious.
Wow there are some really good plans I hope we'll see some of these soon :). regards, george
