point a) try with a test/clean user, to rule out config problem, b) try running plasmashell/kwin via command line to see is there some indication there. additionally, i'd advise running kbuildsycoca5 --noincremental
Well, I don't think it's a config problem if "kwin --replace" fixes it. And the ksycocacache doesnt't seem to be the problem then, either. ;) Running kwin in a command line might provide clues though of course. In addition, you might try to disable the "Desktop Effects", or set the Composite system to "XRender" as a workaround. No idea if that would help though. A bug report (upstream at http://bugs.kde.org/) would be a good idea anyway, I suppose. This seems to be a graphics driver specific issue, I think.
