I really don't care if KSCD works. I only tried because of that old KDE bug that needed updating. But if there's something I can do to help get it reliably working for other openSUSE KDE users I'll try to do it. Well, we, or rather upstream, have already establish that audio CD playing does not work with phonon-vlc 0.6.1/2. You may, or may not wish to try latest version in KDF, which should produce a working KSCD, according to that report. Alternative is to use gstreamer backend, which is the only backend in vanilla 12.3, and still default for 13.1. I believe that should suffice to answer the question of this thread ;-)
