[opensuse-kde3] suse 12.1: compress menu
Is there a possibility to enable the context menu entry "compress" in konqueror? kde3-ark is included, but the context menu is not active. rpm versions : kdeutils3-3.5.10-97.5.x86_64 kdebase3-apps-3.5.10.1-266.1.x86_64 (HAL-enabled) Thanks in advance S. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

I think, you need kdeaddons3-konqueror. -- WBR Kyrill -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

Thanks for the answer, but kdeaddons3-konqueror is already installed in version 3.5.10-16.4.x86_64 S. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org
I installed the 'Trinity' KDE3 3.5.10 on openSUSE 12.1, using the 1-click option at: http://en.opensuse.org/KDE3 It's great to have a non-Aconadicised KDE again (though I'm missing the 'dvdnav' function for VLC, and the Nautilus add-on for Dropbox's 'Public' directory (so one can get the URL of a file in there)). Just one question: As a new user of openSUSE (though my first Linux distro was SuSE 9.0), I don't know how to set YaST2 'Software Update' up to include updates from the KDE3 site. How does one do that? -- /\/\aurice Batey (Retired in Surrey, UK) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org
Hi, You could use the vendor change solution in Yast: http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Vendor_change_update#Full_repository_Vendor_chang... Regards, Luiz 2012/4/2 Maurice <maurice@bcs.org.uk>:

I don't think it's possible for it not to have been done automatically already. AFAIK, a repo is a repo, with no way to distinguish those included only for updating from those for some other reason. To be sure, go into YaST2 "software repositories" and compare characteristics of the entries it contains. Note that updated KDE3 apps show up in the KDE3 repo virtually every day. You might not even want them updated automatically. I don't. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." OK - I've checked YaST2's repositories, and the KDE3 one is there and activated: http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/KDE/KDE3/openSUSE_12.1

That's interesting. I've done a s/w update a few times since installing KDE3, and I didn't notice any KDE3 updates. But that may be because the info flashed by on the screen so quickly. Does YaST2 keep a log of package updates?

I don't, either! (I didn't mention "automatically"). On a 'production' system I always do a backup before then requesting a s/w update. -- /\/\aurice -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

My use of the name Trinity in that context comes from the following statement seen at: http://www.trinitydesktop.org/ : "The Trinity Development Team is currently working on packages for other RPM based systems such as OpenSUSE ..." - and it seemed therefore a logical conclusion (right or wrong) that the openSUSE KDE3 stemmed from the Trinity work. -- /\/\aurice -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

This is not true.

Has anybody with kde3.5.10 running on OpenSUSE 12.1 the compress context menu in konqueror? Thanks S. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org
Works fine for me (on both the 32bit as well as the 64bit system). Cheers, Carolin

Thanks for the feedback, I have now removed ark-4 and now the compress menu is visible. Thanks again S. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org
That's strange because I've installed both versions of ark and it works (the compress dialog of course points to the kde3 version). Cheers Carolin

Now I have reinstalled ark-4 and the compress menu is still available... So the installing sequence seams to make the difference??? I will test this behavior on 2 other 12.1 machines soon. S. On Wednesday 04 April 2012, Carolin Liefke wrote:
