[opensuse-kde3] KDE3 battery status in OpenSuSE 13.1
Hello! I am trying KDE3 on my new laptop computer Dell Lattitude E6230. (I have also tried KDE4 and it has improved much the last years. It is now usable for serious work. But it crashes too often. It crashes twice a day on my computer. I do not loose data but it takes some (expensive) working time to restart the computer.) With KDE3 I have had some problems. Some functions and features which worked earlier do not work any longer. Right now I would like to have a working battery status indicator to see much of the charge (or time) is left and and have low battery level warnings, automatic suspend at low level etc. I can start the old KDE3 applet kpowersave but it does not tell my the battery level. Actually it does not have any of its old functions. I can see the battery level by the command upower -d in a shell. I would like to have the old behavior of kpowersave or the equivalent in KDE4. Does anyone have an idea or tip? Regards Svante Björklund -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org

I use xfce4-power-manager, myself, along with nm-applet for network management. Not all of KDE3 survived, obviously. Cheers, -- jra -- Jay R. Not all survived, of course. But from time to time I'm developing various things for KDE3. Sometime ago I started to develop a replacement for kpowersave. Unfortunately is not yet possible to integrate it with KDE3 version provided by OpenSUSE. -- Serghei

A while ago there was a discussion here about fixing HAL on opensuse >= 12.3. HAL is necessary for kpowersave. Serghei, I am going to try hard to build your version of KDE3 if you'll help and provide it as part of the main openSUSE repo. The main concern for me is the correspondence between CMAKE and configure options. There are multiple build options we currently use, some of them are necessary for the build success because of some bugs in the toolchain, the linker etc. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org
