[opensuse-kde3] yast2-control-center-qt3 No icons?
All, Felix, Can you check yast2 in KDE3 and see if you have icons? When I click software manaagment, it starts reading repositories and then displays an error message in an orange box that plugin-qt cannot be found. I also get the error: y2controlcenter: No icon /usr/share/YaST2/theme/current/icons/32x32/apps/yast.png So something is messed up. Here is what I see: -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.

I got YaST2 icons by force installing 15.0's package (after rpm -e --nodeps --justdb yast2-branding-openSUSE*151*, because of a file conflict /etc/icewm/preferences.yast2), 2436 bytes in 15.0, 2580 in 15.1. Agreed, but my biggest problem was the error that prevents package selection display in 'yast2 sw_single`. My guess is libqt5-qtstyleplugins, out yast-control-center-qt3 needs to have dependencies updated to fix this. There was no issue in 15.0, all 7-tabs there. Me either. You can tell that there was no thought to how the yast changes affected KDE3. It doesn't seem that it would have taken much to simply pass the changes on and incorporate them into the -qt3 control center. I have posted an image of the "pristine" 15.0 control center here for comparison: http://paste.opensuse.org/30328672 If we can get a set of search terms like "yui" the others ones that are not picked up with a search for "yast" we can look at the 15.0 install to see what is there. (on brighter side, keepassx 0.4.3 rebuilt from .srpm just fine on 15.1 as did fluxbox, so the basic gcc issues you sometimes see moving between versions were not nearly as bad as they were in the past) -- David C. OK, I know what the icons problem is and it should be an easy fix for the yast2-control-center-qt3. The problem is yast2-branding-openSUSE used to provide hicolor and crystal icons for yast2. Then to access the icons, it provided a symlink in: /usr/share/YaST2/theme/current/ that pointed icons -> ../../../icons/hicolor Now since yast2-branding-openSUSE is not provided for 15.1, there are no hicolor icons for yast2 and there is no longer a link: /usr/share/YaST2/theme/current/icons -> ../../../icons/hicolor So the yast2-control-center-qt3 cannot find any of its icons. All of the yast2 icons are now provided in yast2-theme-oxygen. They provide 16, 22, 48, ... px icons, but no 32x32 icons, so it isn't as simple as just adding a symlink. What should happen is we should rebuild the yast2-control-center-qt3 to look for 22x22 icons instead of 32x32 icons and add the symlink: /usr/share/YaST2/theme/current/icons -> ../../../icons/oxygen which should completely fix the icon problem. -- David C. There will need to be changes to make yast2-control-center-qt3 look for "scalable" icons from yast2-theme as the default yast2-theme no longer provides hicolor 32x32 icons for yast. -- David C. Felix, It was libyui-qt-pkg9, after installing that yast2 sw_single works fine. Update removed yast2-branding-openSUSE and installed yast2-theme and yast2-theme-oxygen, so my icons are gone again, but at least yast2-control-center-qt3 is working fine. Felix,
It was libyui-qt-pkg9, after installing that yast2 sw_single works fine. It also looks like yast2-branding-openSUSE from 15.0 needs to now be made a part of yast2-control-center-qt3. Since the package has been dropped from the distro, we should just move the icons into the qt3 control center -- unless you have found another package that provides the icons on 15.1 that I haven't been lucky enough to hit on yet. My 15.0 yast2-control-center-qt3 is perfect. So it looks like this may just be a matter of a LOT of new missing dependencies in the yast2-control-center-qt3 package in 15.1 due to how the yast2 packages were shuffled around between 15.0 and 15.1. -- David C. I don't think I am able to reproduce this obstacle. sw_single seems just fine, other than having only 3 tabs instead of 7.

On host big41 where I retrofitted 15.0's yast2-branding-openSUSE, clicking Software Management from YaST2 Control Center produces no visible error. BTW, YaST2 is not obeying Trolltech.conf, and I can't remember what the name of what qt5ct replaced is. :~( -- Evolution as taught in public schools is religion, not science. Team OS/2 ** Reg.
