[opensuse-kde3] X or KDE3 problème
Hello All, I just switched my Leap 42.2 system to Leap 42.3. Note please that it was not through an installation update, but from a new install. There is a problem with X window system or KDE3 windows manager : when moving a window, it follows the mouse cursor with a delay, which makes it very difficult to position. The same problem exists with a change in window size. Would anyone have a solution, please ? I thank you for the attention you paid to this e-mail. Hello Felix, Thank you fot your response. After a job on /var/log/zypp/history using grep I made the following list, the first part being for installed packages. Then I did a similar job on the removed packages, and saw the "patterns-openSUSE-x11…", and as you look interested by the X components, I decided to reinstall these packages and reboot… but unfortunatly, it did not solve the problem )-: Patrick ------------------------------------ install|libxcb-dri3-0|1.11.1-4.3|x86_64| install|libxcb-dri2-0|1.11.1-4.3|x86_64| Hello Felix and thank you for your responses, I found en xf86-video-ati-7.7.1-3.1.x86_64 on rpmfind. It was built for Leap 42.2 but I decided to try to install it, anyway. SUCCESS ! Good to know. You should reinstall xf86-video-ati-7.9.0-1.4 from the 42.3 oss repository. If the problem returns, you should file an openSUSE bug report, attach y2logs and Xorg.0.log, then reinstall 7.7.1-3.1. I don't understand what you're trying to communicate. Maybe if you ask on the heroes@opensuse.org list or mirrors@opensuse.org list someone can recognize if you have a mirrors problem. Not knocking the work everyone has done to keep KDE3 working on openSUSE, but have you guys tried Trinity Desktop/TDE? TDE is not without problems, e.g.: http://bugs.pearsoncomputing.net/show_bug.cgi?id=2780 no notification on optical or USB media insertion http://bugs.pearsoncomputing.net/show_bug.cgi?id=2732 wish option to not create unwanted directories in $HOME http://bugs.pearsoncomputing.net/show_bug.cgi?id=2658 no icon in menu or system tray for KTTSMgr Not filed is the annoying relative absence of menu branches compared to KDE3, too many first level menu items with any significant amount of software installed.

That works fine on my systems. I get notifications on both. Currently using my Core2 based laptop with 64bit. My server is still running 12.2 I think, so I don't have TDE on a desktop right now.
http://bugs.pearsoncomputing.net/show_bug.cgi?id=2732 wish option to not create unwanted directories in $HOME
Haven't these been installed by default for a long time? I seem to remember KDE2 doing this. I generally do make use of these directories but not always.

Don't use that personally. Interesting. I have seen TDEPowersave & TDENetworkmanager do something similar though. Never thought to post a bug report.

Yeah, I've noticed that as well but I don't use the menu much. Compared to KDE4, TDE is what KDE3 should have been continues as. I switched to TDE after having issues getting KDE3 working properly under openSUSE. I just did a 42.3 install with TDE and was very pleased with it on my Precision 6400 Q9000/8GB laptop. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-kde3+owner@opensuse.org
