This is great! Please point them to the heroes mailing list and the #opensuse-admin channel to introduce themselves as well
I also volunteered to help out with the technical side of mailing list admin - I run a number mailman lists, and consider myself very well versed in email and list admin. As an intro, these ought to suffice: https://news.opensuse.org/2011/04/04/people-of-opensuse-per-jessen/ https://en.opensuse.org/User:Pjessen https://www.linkedin.com/in/pjessen -- Per Jessen, Zürich (17.4°C) http://www.hostsuisse.com/ - dedicated server rental in Switzerland. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: heroes+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: heroes+owner@opensuse.org
Hi Per! Nice to have you on board! I guess your skills will help us On Fri, 05 Aug 2016 20:46:52 +0200 Per Jessen wrote:

I hope you know that we are using mlmmj in the backend of the mailing lists ? So most of the work there has to be done via console (no beautiful WebUI for management). But from what I read from you on other mailing lists, this should not really be a problem, right? ;-) I added you as opensuse-admin now on https://progress.opensuse.org so you can already have a look around and check what we have there. https://progress.opensuse.org/projects/opensuse-admin/wiki/Lists_create_new and https://progress.opensuse.org/projects/opensuse-admin/wiki/Lists_ban_user are IMHO currently the only useful information for mailing list admins. As Gerhard is currently on vacation, I will try to add some more documentation about the Email routing during the next days. Feel free to ask what you miss apart from that... Hi Lars Yep, I know - always good to learn something new.

No problem at all :-)

Okay, I'll have a look at those.

A very simplified introduction is now also available at https://progress.opensuse.org/projects/opensuse-admin/wiki/Listsopensuseorg Simplified, because we have additional servers acting as forwarders/relays behind the firewall. But this should not be relevant to understand the principle that new mailing lists on lists.opensuse.org need some additional work on other machines to get the Email routing done correctly.
