So many ways to fail. :( Yet another failure since last thread post:
To: updates+leave@lists.opensuse.org
The correct address is
updates-leave@lists.opensuse.org
Use cut&paste.
My normal procedure for well over a decade to unsubscribe with all subscribed lists from whatever host that doesn't require the web to start or stop a subscription is to find and start with the related subscribe message(s). In this case, the first was on 8 November 2020 (successful) addressed to:
opensuse-updates+subscribe@opensuse.org
So what I did to unsub initially was select "edit as new" that message and add two characters in each field in the appropriate location: "un" (6 keystrokes in total).
Why don't you look at the mail headers to see the current unsubsribe procedure? When I open an email from the list in Alpine, I see at the bottom this: [ Note: This message contains email list management information ] If I click on that line, I get a menu: +++······················ List participation commands in this message include: * A method to get information about the list and instructions on how to join. Select HERE to seek help. * A method to remove yourself from the list (Unsubscribe). Select HERE to UNsubscribe. * A method to add yourself to the list (Subscribe). Select HERE to Subscribe. * A method to send a message to the entire list (Post). Select HERE to post a message. * A method to view archive of messages sent to the list. Select HERE to view the archive. ······················++- I just have to tap on the option I want to execute, and my very old mail program does the job. It creates an email command with the correct TO and Subject lines, automatically. Other mail programs could do the same automatism for free.
I have no recollection nor record of that particular sub being changed from the old software to the new.
It was obviously going to change... Maybe it could have been mentioned.
Obviously this particular process was a victim of the software change timing, and nearly everything about the list changing, including obfuscating (in part through required script support that made me cease to use Fedora's lists' archive) the archived post groups that are the primary reason to have an archive.
