Hi Peter, No it's not a local issue but is intentional. Remember Moblin is aimed at netbooks and there are no netbooks with optical drives. To use the .raw file you need to 'dd' it to a USB stick and then boot from that. I would recommend using the .raw file found in KIWI-oem as it it will fit on a 2GB stick, and is designed as a recovery image. Be warned though that you will have no partitioning option, and you will loose all data when you install it. OK so the OBS gods have been fairly kind to me, and after a few subtle errors and several typos I managed to fix things. If you do an 'osc up' you should be able to get things going. I'm not saying it's perfect, but it is certainly better.

How can I use this "raw" file? Bye, CzP -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-goblin+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-goblin+help@opensuse.org

Luckily it was easy to switch to iso generation :-) The USB key method was not an option for me, as I do not want to wipe my HDD (I have Windows to run some special sw for my job, and a couple of Linuxes for testing). Booting from the USB key was also not supported by the latest vmware workstation. So I ended up generating the ISO file, booting it in vmware and installing first stage there. I shut down the virtual machine while rebooting and copied the content of the virtual HDD to the netbook, fixed grub and fstab. Then booted moblin, ran second stage of installation, and fixed grub again. Now I have everything booting fine again (WinXP, MobLin, Ubuntu Netbook Remix, Factory and JoliCloud, which will soon make place for a nice, large data partition :-) ). Some questions/remarks: - I was logged in automagically, which isn't nice from the privacy point of view. Can it be turned off? - I could not find anything for shutdown/suspend/etc., only the power button Bye, CzP -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-goblin+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-goblin+help@opensuse.org

Not at this time, it is the way Moblin works.

That is correct, and is how to use it right now. Intel is considering making a power applet as some people are confused about this. Remember, Moblin is for an appliance, much like a cell phone. You don't have to log into a cell phone, or run a command to turn the thing off, you just press the power button and it all happens correctly. thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-goblin+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-goblin+help@opensuse.org

Well, it can, with the kind help of Andy: "vi /etc/sysconfig/displaymanager" and deleted the username after DISPLAYMANAGER_AUTOLOGIN.

I need to enter my pin code, when I turn it on, to protect my phone numbers, etc. when the phone ever gets lost or stolen... Bye, CzP -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-goblin+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-goblin+help@opensuse.org

Heh, true. Take this up with Intel on the Moblin mailing lists, this is up to them at this time. thanks, greg k-h -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-goblin+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-goblin+help@opensuse.org
